Book Review: The pact by Sharon Bolton.
The pact book review.
Six friends play a game of dare that one day goes tragically wrong and Megan takes the blame on the condition that Daniel, Talitha, Amber, Xav and Felix agree to "owe her a favour" when she gets out of prison.
Fast forward twenty years and Megan is out of prison and re-appears in their lives. That sets off another chain of events...
I really enjoyed this book even if none of the characters were that likeable. It was fun to watch them squirm and to wonder how far they would go to save their own skin's.
I don't want to spoil anything but watching a couple of the characters unravel and wondering who was responsible for the things that happen towards the end of the book kept me gripped.
Was Megan getting her revenge or was their another explanation? Who would survive the end? Would they get away with their lies?
Even the ending wasn't exactly happy, but that was ok.
I enjoyed reading it and would read it again. I like psychological thrillers, and this was not dissapointing. I hadn't heard of the author before and just bought the book on a whim.
I'm glad I did.
4/5.
