30 day song challenge: Day 25. A song you like by an artist no longer living.
This was easy for me. As much as I love Elvis and Buddy and Kurt Cobain and Roy Orbison and Marvin and so many other great artists that are no longer with us, I had to pick one man.
Bobby Darin.
I've loved his music since I was a kid. He had a very interesting (but short) life; he knew he would die young due to a heart condition he had; he found out his mother was actually his grandmother and his sister was his real mother; he was set to elope with fellow teen singer, Connie Francis, until her father threatened him.
It's a shame the movie of his life, "Beyond the sea", is tarnished by Kevin Spacey playing Bobby. Can't they remake it?
Another great thing about Bobby is that he recorded lots of different styles of music (teen pop, country, jazz) and he was a fantastic singer.
My pick is his version of "Black coffee" because I love the song. It's been recorded by several singers but I think Bobby's version is the best.
