sometimes people make me feel sad.
Without going into details, I'm part of a fandom of a TV show, and a person from that show has been accused of sexual abuse.
If you follow the news, you'll know who I'm talking about but I won't name anyone.
The person denied the allegations BUT said they were "consensual". Um, the accounts are pretty horrific and the details are heartbreaking.
So he hasn't denied doing the things. He just denied the women didn't want him to.
Now, I'm not saying that every man accused is guilty. What I am saying, however, if the evidence is out there, how can he deny it? Especially as there's been earlier incidents that have involved restraining orders.
My opinion is that, in this case, I do think there is something to the allegations. Like I said, past events are public knowledge and he didn't deny the things that happened, just denied the context.
The thing that bugs me is that fans of his in the fandom are making him look like the victim. It's mostly women, too. They don't believe what has been alleged.
Fair enough, they are entitled to their opinion, but they make comments that say the women are after fame (they used alias) are lying (they have people cooperating their claims) and this is the saddest part:
They have no idea of what the legal system is like for survivors of abuse. It bugs me because another person related to the show has been an activist for survivors of abuse, and has even been to court to testify that kits are not even being processed and thrown away.
These fans of this man don't care about the reality of the law, they just want to make him the victim, and I've seen many posts that are calling him a victim and you are just met with abuse if you challenge them. They have said they don't care about the victims, because he's suffering.
People are strange.
